International Muslim Marriage Agency

Privacy Policy

Effective 12 August 2026

This policy explains what International Muslim Marriage Agency (“IMMA”, “we”, “us”) does with the information you give us when you apply for our matchmaking service. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past. If anything here is unclear, write to us at services@internationalmuslimmarriageagency.com and we will explain it.

1. Who we are

IMMA is a private matchmaking service for Muslims and those seeking marriage on Islamic terms. We are the controller of the information described below, which means we decide how and why it is used and we are answerable for it.

Contact: services@internationalmuslimmarriageagency.com

2. What we collect

Almost everything we hold about you is information you typed into our application form yourself. That form asks for:

We also record the language you completed the form in, the date and time of your submission, and a reference number.

3. Religious identity and other sensitive information

Information about your religious beliefs is treated as sensitive under data protection law in the UK, the European Union and elsewhere. So is some of what you tell us about your relationship history and health-adjacent circumstances. We can only hold that information because you have given us your explicit consent by ticking the consent box on the application form. You can withdraw that consent at any time — see section 8.

By its nature this service cannot work without knowing your religious identity. If you are not comfortable providing it, please do not submit an application.

4. Why we use it, and on what basis

We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell it. We do not build profiles of you for any purpose other than matchmaking.

5. Who sees it

Our review team

Access is limited to the people at IMMA who review applications and arrange introductions.

Potential matches and their representatives

Where we identify someone we think you may be compatible with, we may share relevant parts of your profile with that person and, where appropriate, with their wali or a family representative acting for them — as they may with you. We share only what is necessary for a considered introduction, and we do not pass on your direct contact details without asking you first.

Service providers

We use a small number of established providers to run the service. They process information on our instructions and may not use it for their own purposes:

Legal

We will disclose information if we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect someone from serious harm.

6. Where it is stored

Our providers process and store information in the United States. If you are applying from the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, or another region with restrictions on international data transfers, your information will be transferred to and held in the United States. You consent to that transfer when you submit your application.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your application for as long as it is active and you are open to introductions, and for up to 24 months after our last contact with you. After that we delete it. If you ask us to delete it sooner, we will — see below.

8. Your rights

Whatever country you are in, you can ask us to:

Write to services@internationalmuslimmarriageagency.com and we will act on it. We aim to respond within 30 days. If you are in the UK or the EEA and you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

Withdrawing consent does not undo anything we lawfully did before you withdrew it, and if an introduction has already been made we cannot retrieve information already shared with the other person.

9. How we protect it

We take these measures seriously, and we will keep improving them. But we want to be straightforward with you rather than reassuring: no online service can promise absolute security. By submitting an application you accept that residual risk. If we ever discover a breach affecting your information, we will tell you and the relevant authority as the law requires.

10. Your browser

We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or third-party trackers of any kind. Nothing on this site follows you around the internet.

The site does store two things locally in your own browser: your chosen language, and a temporary draft of your application so that you do not lose your answers if the page closes part-way through. The draft is cleared when you submit. If you are using a shared or public computer, close the browser when you are finished.

11. Children

This service is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to apply. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we will delete any such application if we become aware of it.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the effective date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will contact you about it.
